Happy 10th Birthday, Honeybee!

Put on your party clothes and take out the apple juice!  It’s time to celebrate Honeybee’s 10th anniversary!  Since 2000, this Book Club catalog for toddlers to fours has really grown up.

Back in 2000, Scholastic introduced Honeybee as a once-a-year catalog that would cater to the youngest children.  It was designed for caregivers who needed the perfect potty training book or the latest Karen Katz lift-the-flap.  We soon learned that these books are exactly what people were looking for; each time Honeybee was offered, its books would fly out of our warehouse.  It was all too clear that parents and teachers still wanted more… Continue reading

September Rewards Unveiled!

Here in the Marketing and Promotions Department, we’re not only reading this year’s best books and catching up on the latest trends for kids, we’re thinking of ways to make Scholastic Book Clubs work better for YOU!  For parents and teachers, we know how hard it can be to handle a classroom and a home while trying to inspire a love of reading. That’s why this September, we’re giving teachers more rewards than ever before. Meet Book Clubs: Editorial Part 2

Welcome back to the exciting conclusion of Book Clubs Editorial! When we last left off, we were telling you about how lucky we are that we get to read so many books. After reading, we whittle down the books to about 85-100 titles and then the real work begins. We spend hours, days, and weeks just trying to figure out where to put each book. In fact, the final product that you receive starts out like this:

We all remember circling our favorite books on Scholastic Book Club fliers to take home and beg and plead and hope that our parents would let us get them ALL.  Maybe you have recently had this experience with your student or child? There are so many great books, aren’t there? How do you choose?

There are a lot of people involved in getting Scholastic Book Clubs from our minds to your schools, and every week we’re going to introduce you to a different part of Scholastic Book Clubs.
